Rendition has received mixed reviews from critics. The much anticipated movie did not leave a great impact on critics nor viewers. Personally I can't wait to see the movie, but critics are not so sure: “Rendition” has received mixed reviews. Critics seem to like Reese Witherspoon’s and Jake Gyllenhaal’s performances but find the movie fails overall in telling a compelling story. According to the New York Times, “Rendition” is “A well-meaning, honorable movie. Which is not to say that it is a very good one.” Many critics feel the film’s important and timely message outweighs what it lacks in artistic merit. Gyllenhall himself has publicly stated that he is not a fan of “message movies,” despite starring in the heavy political thriller and nearly scoring an Oscar for his performance in “Brokeback Mountain,” a film lauded for it’s moving portrayal of the twenty-year plight of two men who fall in love." So what do you do when your movie isn't number 1? You stage a romance! Reese and Jake were seen hand in hand after months of denying their maybe relationship. Just this past weekend when the movie opened up, they refused to comment on their relationship and kept their distance. However, after reviews surfaced they seemed more than "open" about it. TomKat version 2.0?
